Well marked low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean




The well marked low pressure area now lies over southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean at 0830 hours IST of today, the 12th December 2018. Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to concentrate into a depression during next 24 hours and intensify further into a deep depression during subsequent 24 hours. It is very likely to move towards south Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu coasts during next 72 hours.
Warnings:
i.Heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for south coastal Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu: Rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places is very likely on 15th & 16th Dec 2018.

(iii) Wind warning and Fishermen Warning for coastal Areas

Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to commence along & off south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu & Puducherry coasts from the morning of 15th December onwards. Fishermen deep in the sea are advised to return to coast by 14th December.
