Transparency has been Brought in to the ADIP Scheme : Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot



Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot said that the central government has brought transparency to the ADIP Scheme and the massive response and success of the scheme has added to the popularity of this initiative by the Ministry. The Union Minister also fondly recalled a recent interaction between Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and cochlear implantee children under ADIP scheme during the PM’s popular Radio show Mann Ki Baat, which struck an emotional chord with the audience. He said that the current government remains committed towards the inclusion and empowerment of the marginalized through a corruption-free system. He said that the ‘Make in India’ objective of the government is also being achieved through ALIMCO’s active collaboration with German manufacturers ‘Ottobock’ and UK-based manufacturers ‘Motivation’, while speaking on the occassion of distributing Aids and Assistive devices to the persons with disabilities in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.

Appreciating the efforts of the Department in successfully organizing this Camp at Ashok Vihar, Dr Harsh Vardhan expressed his gratitude on behalf of his constituency, for organizing second such ADIP Camp in his Parliamentary constituency, Chandni Chowk. He added that this Camp will benefit many persons with disabilities (PwDs) and help them overcome odds that they currently face in their daily lives and pledged contributions from his MP funds towards the noble cause.

Shedding further light on the activities of DEPwD Secretary DEPwD, Dr Vinod Aggarwal informed the gathering that the Department was not only providing Assistive devices to PwDs but has also provided skill training to approximately 1 lakh PwDs in the past one year. The Department’s Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan is also making inroads into making the dream of ‘Universal Accessibility’ turn into reality. He also added that the Government recently notified the guidelines for certifying Autism for the first time ever.

Shri Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Joint Secretary DEPwD, in his address informed that all the equipment distributed in the ADIP Camp were high-end technical devices which have been manufactured by ALIMCO in collaboration with German pioneers Ottobock. He also informed the audience about the Department’s latest scheme “Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme’ which provides life insurance to PwDs at a nominal annual premium.

More than 1000 beneficiaries were provided with state-of-the-art high-end technical devices at this Camp. The beneficiaries were provided with 1756 free-of-cost equipment worth Rs 1.42 Crore. The distributed high end devices included - SMART PHONE 316; SMART CANE 751; BLIND STICK 04; TABLET 367;MOTORIZED TRICYCLE 66; TRICYCLE 78; WHEEL CHAIR 22; CRUTCH 78; WALKING STICK 08; MSIED KIT 05; BTE HEARING AID 27; CALLIPER 30; PROSTHESIS 04. Besides these, 100 PwD beneficiaries were also registered for the Swavlamban Health Insuarance Scheme.
